Polenta Base
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 4 cups water or broth for more flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter optional for creaminess

Method
 

Cooking Polenta
  1. In a saucepan, bring water or broth to a boil. Add salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
  4. Stir in butter if using, and serve warm.
