Prepare Doughnuts
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the doughnut pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: honey, egg, applesauce, and milk.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the doughnuts cool before glazing.
Prepare Fudge Glaze
- Melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Stir in the maple syrup until smooth.
- Dip the cooled doughnuts into the fudge glaze and let set.
