Ingredients
  

Doughnut Batter
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup milk can use almond or oat milk
Fudge Glaze
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Method
 

Prepare Doughnuts
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the doughnut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: honey, egg, applesauce, and milk.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the doughnuts cool before glazing.
Prepare Fudge Glaze
  1. Melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Stir in the maple syrup until smooth.
  3. Dip the cooled doughnuts into the fudge glaze and let set.
