Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (preferably toasted)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu by wrapping it in a clean towel and placing a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into even cubes or rectangles.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil until combined.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. Cook the tofu pieces until golden brown on all sides (about 8-10 minutes).
  5. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the tofu in the skillet and simmer for about five minutes until thickened.
  6. Serve topped with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
