  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup rose water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped walnuts and pistachios; set aside.
  3. Layer phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter until ten layers are stacked.
  4. Spread the nut mixture evenly over the phyllo, drizzle with rose water, and add another six layers of phyllo brushed with butter.
  5. Cut into diamond shapes and bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown.
  6. While baking, prepare syrup by simmering sugar, honey, water, and lemon juice until slightly thickened.
  7. Pour hot syrup over baklava as soon as it comes out of the oven; let it soak before serving.
