Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (whisked with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and instant yeast. Gradually mix in warm water (about 1 cup) and pumpkin puree until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for approximately 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide it into eight equal pieces, shape each piece into a ball, and poke a hole through the center to form bagels.
  5. Boil a pot of water and drop each bagel in for one minute on each side to achieve the chewy texture.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each boiled bagel with egg wash before placing them on parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake for around 20 minutes or until golden brown.
