Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for five minutes until foamy. Add pumpkin puree, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt; mix well. Gradually add flour until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for eight minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about one hour until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread softened butter over it, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  4. Roll up tightly from one end and cut into one-inch pieces using dental floss or a sharp knife.
  5. Place rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another thirty minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about twenty-five minutes until golden brown.
  6. For icing, mix softened cream cheese with confectioners' sugar and maple syrup until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
