Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 tbsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and warm water. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. 2. Make the Filling: In another bowl, mix ground pork with ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. 3. Shape the Buns: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into about 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle (4 inches wide). Place a spoonful of filling in the center, fold the edges up, and pinch to seal.
  4. 4. Steam: Place each bun on parchment paper in a steamer basket. Steam over simmering water for about 15 minutes until fluffy.
  5. 5. Serve: Carefully remove from the steamer and garnish with sliced green onions before serving hot.
