  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 45 tbsp ice water
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • ½ cup heavy cream, warmed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, whisk flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually mix in ice water until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Toss sliced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough and fit it into a pie pan. Layer the apple mixture inside.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden.
  5. For caramel, melt granulated sugar over medium heat until golden, whisk in warmed heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Drizzle caramel over tart before serving.
