Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour (with xanthan gum)
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (neutral like canola)
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 cup ground pork or chicken
  • 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (minced)
  • 2 tbsp gluten-free soy sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add warm water while stirring to form a soft dough. Knead gently for about five minutes before incorporating cooking oil.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for about one hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by combining ground meat, green onions, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce in a separate bowl.
  4. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into a four-inch circle and place one tablespoon of filling in the center. Fold edges to seal tightly.
  5. Steam the buns in a lined steamer basket for about fifteen minutes until fluffy.
  6. Serve hot with soy sauce or chili oil.
