Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 package (17.3 oz) puff pastry, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and granulated sugar until dissolved.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the milk while stirring constantly.
  4. Cook on low heat until thickened (about 5 minutes). The custard should coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry into a baking dish with excess hanging over the edges. Pour in the cooled custard filling and fold over the excess pastry.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing and serving.
