  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Scoop about one tablespoon of dough onto the prepared sheets. Use your thumb to create an indentation in each cookie.
  6. Fill each indentation with a few chocolate chips before baking for 12 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly before transferring to wire racks.
