  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Dice chicken into bite-sized pieces. Chop carrots, celery, and onion uniformly.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté onions until translucent; then add garlic, carrots, and celery for about five minutes.
  3. Add chicken to the pot and cook until no longer pink (6-8 minutes).
  4. Pour in chicken broth and season with salt, pepper, and thyme; bring to a gentle boil.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, milk, and melted butter until just mixed.
  6. Reduce heat to low and drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into simmering broth. Cover tightly for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
