  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into meatballs about one inch in diameter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
  5. While meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbling.
  6. Assemble the subs by placing baked meatballs into halved hoagie rolls, topping with marinara and mozzarella cheese.
  7. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
