Beef Empanadas are delicious hand-held pastries filled with seasoned ground beef, onions, and spices, all wrapped in a golden flaky crust.   • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 package empanada dough (about 12 rounds)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Roll out empanada dough and cut into circles (4-5 inches in diameter).
  5. Place about a tablespoon of filling on each circle. Fold and seal with a fork.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and brush empanadas with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
