  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 quart chocolate ice cream (softened)
  • 1 cup fudge sauce (store-bought)
  • 2 cups whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings or sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Once cooled, place one layer on a serving platter and spread half of the softened chocolate ice cream over it. Drizzle with fudge sauce.
  5. Add the second cake layer on top and repeat with the remaining ice cream and fudge sauce.
  6. Cover the entire cake with whipped topping and decorate as desired with chocolate shavings or sprinkles.
  7. Refrigerate for at least one hour before slicing.
