Gullac is a delightful traditional Turkish dessert that features delicate layers of thin dough soaked in sweetened milk and garnished with crunchy nuts.   • 6 Gullac sheets
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp rose water
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and sugar, stirring until dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in rose water; let cool slightly.
  2. Place one Gullac sheet on a clean surface or baking dish, pouring the milk mixture over it until moistened but not soaked through. Repeat with additional sheets, layering them one after another.
  3. Between layers, sprinkle chopped nuts and cinnamon powder for added flavor.
  4. After stacking about six layers, pour any remaining milk mixture over the top layer and let soak for at least one hour.
  5. Refrigerate for at least two hours to set before slicing into squares or diamonds. Garnish with extra nuts if desired.
