  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for decoration)
  • Black licorice strings (cut into small pieces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spaced about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are firm but centers remain soft; let cool slightly.
  8. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave until smooth; dip half of each cookie in chocolate and attach licorice pieces as spider legs.
